Awana

What is Awana?

Awana is our midweek discipleship program for kids ages 3 (and potty-trained) through 6th grade that meets weekly on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:30PM from end of September through the first week of May. The goal of the program is to reach kids with the gospel and engage them in lifelong discipleship so that kids will come to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ.

We do this in three ways:

  • Reaching kids with the gospel through fun, scripture-rich experiences
  • Equipping parents and leaders to disciple kids and impact their generation with the Gospel
  • Trusting God to work through Awana for evangelism and long-term discipleship of kids

What Does Awana Look Like?

Kids are broken up into three groups with all activities and elements of the evening tailored to their individual age group:

  • Cubbies – (Ages 3-5 must be potty-trained) celebrates the joy of being a preschooler! Through games, crafts, songs, and Bible stories, kids discover God’s love and the truth of His Word. Each week, they learn simple Bible verses and truths in a fun, hands-on way.

  • Sparks – (Grades K-2) ignites a child’s curiosity about the people and events of the Bible, building a foundation of faith one verse at a time. Kids enjoy exciting games, engaging activities, and a Bible-rich curriculum that helps them understand God’s big story.

  • Truth & Training (or T&T for short) – (Grades 3-6) equips older kids to dive deeper into God’s Word and live it out in everyday life. Through dynamic lessons, team games, and Scripture memorization, they grow in their faith, develop godly character, and learn how to boldly share the Gospel.

A typical Awana evening is divided into three segments providing a fun, inviting environment where kids can be themselves to learn and grow with their peers.

  • Large Group Time:  A place where kids encounter God through engaging lessons, worship, and other elements that promote transforming discipleship.
  • Small Group Time:  A place where prayer, discussion, and scripture application happens. Small group time is the heart of Awana, where kids build relationships with caring leaders who guide them in applying truth within a loving community.
  • Interactive Time:  A place where fun is had and friendships are formed as kids gather together around a group activity. Interactive time is where community is built around having fun with friends.

We also plan fun theme nights and special contests throughout the year, which we advertise on the GCAC Family Ministries Facebook and Instagram pages so parents can keep track of what fun and exciting things are ahead!

For 24 years God has made a difference in the lives of kids through our Awana program. We would love to invest in the life of your kids and encourage them to join! REGISTRATION is now open!
